A horrible incid3nt unfolded on 25 June 2024 along the Mutare-Masvingo Road, with an Inter Africa Bus catching fire while stationary at the 11-kilometer peg.
According to eyewitnesses, the bus began to emit thick smoke from the driver’s compartment at around 0445 hours, prompting the driver to alert authorities and evacuate the vehicle.
Fortunately, all 40 passengers on board managed to escape unharmed.
Details of the incident are still emerging, but it is understood that the bus was not in motion at the time of the fire.
The cause of the fire is currently unknown and an investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police has taken over the investigation into the incident and is working closely with Inter Africa Bus operators to determine the cause of the fire.
