The Bulawayo City Council has announced the final allocation of vending bays to 1,660 micro-enterprises at the 5th Avenue and Bhaktas sites.
The allocation was done in a public notice issued by Town Clerk, Mr Christopher Dube.
According to the notice, the 5th Avenue market will have 576 bays, while Bhaktas will have 1,060 bays.
To secure their allocated bays, beneficiaries are required to pay the applicable license and monthly rental fees and occupy their designated bay by June 30, 2024.
Mr Dube encouraged beneficiaries to review the allocation list, which has been shared with Association leaders and is also available at the Dugmore Informal Trading Offices.
He emphasised that trading bays not occupied by June 30 will be reallocated to deserving traders on the municipal Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) waiting list.
Beneficiaries are advised to act promptly to secure their allocated bays and avoid losing their chance to operate at the designated markets.
The council’s decision aims to promote economic growth and development in Bulawayo by providing a platform for micro-enterprises to thrive.
