Bulawayo has witnessed a notable decline in its crime rate, with a reported decrease of 10 percent compared to the same period last year, according to police officials.
Inspector Abednico Ncube, the police spokesperson for Bulawayo , highlighted that overall crime in Bulawayo has dropped by an impressive 35 percent during the first half of the year 2024.
The statistics reflect a reduction in unlawful entries, with only 1800 cases recorded in the first half of this year compared to 1998 during the same timeframe last year.
Additionally, the m_rder rate has seen a decline, with 28 cases reported in the first half of 2024, down from 38 in 2023, marking a decrease of 20 percent.
Armed robberies have also fallen, with 19 incidents reported this year compared to 33 last year.
Similarly, the number of rap3 cases has decreased, with 72 reported in the first half of 2024, down from 110 in the same period in 2023.
This reduction in crime is indicative of effective policing strategies and community engagement efforts aimed at enhancing public safety.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police remain committed to maintaining these positive trends and continue to encourage citizens to report any criminal activities.
