Former CAPS United defender and captain, Tapiwa Khumbuyani, has passed away at the age of 41. Khumbuyani, who battled liver cancer, left behind two children in his hometown of Gweru.
Known affectionately as “Zheveti,” Khumbuyani was highly esteemed by his peers and friends in the football community. Maxwell “MaRhino” Dube, a close friend, paid tribute to him on social media.
Throughout his career, Khumbuyani played for several clubs, including CAPS United, How Mine FC, and Chapungu. He also proudly represented Zimbabwe as a member of the Warriors, the national football team. His significant contributions to the sport and his presence on the field will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
