A kind-hearted Good Samaritan who offered a lift to a stranger was robbed at gunpoint after the man posing as a stranded traveller turned out to be a notorious armed robber.
Tinashe Nyambuya appeared in court over the weekend accused of ordering Musa Phiri out of his own red Honda Fit car before speeding off with it on July 17.
The court heard Phiri had offered Nyambuya a ride from Hatcliffe turn-off to Domboshava when the robber pounced, drawing a pistol from his bag and threatening to shoot his victim if he resisted.
After ordering Phiri out of the car, heartless Nyambuya drove off with the stolen wheels – but Phiri spotted him driving around with his girlfriǝnd in the vehicle just two days later.
Phiri pursued the wicked couple in a friend’s car, causing Nyambuya to jump out and flee on foot, leaving his frightened girlfriǝnd behind at the scene.
The woman then helped police track down the armed thief, leading to Nyambuya’s arrest the very next day.
Officers recovered the pistol used in the violent carjacking from the boot of the stolen Honda Fit.
The sh0cking case highlights the depravity of lowlife thugs who prey on innocent citizens, even those who show them kindness by offering a simple lift.
Nyambuya now faces the full force of the law for his appalling crime targeting a Good Samaritan who was simply trying to help a stranger in need.
