The Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Authority (ZimParks) is urging residents of Chiredzi to stay cautious following sightings of a stray lion.
First spotted on Sunday in the Buffalo Range area, the lion was later seen near the airstrip by Tuesday, escalating concerns about public safety.

Tinashe Farawo, the spokesperson for ZimParks, informed The Mirror that rangers are actively tracking the lion.
“We received a call about the stray lion roaming in Chiredzi, and our reaction team is on-site to locate it,” he said.
Given the circumstances, Farawo advised the community to remain calm but alert.
He suggested that residents limit their nighttime activities and make sure cattle are safely secured in their pens to reduce the risk of encounters with the wild animal.
