POLITICAL analysts are convinced the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) is heading for a split after recalled legislators successfully filed their by-election nomination papers under the same political party.
The Nomination Court for the December 9 National Assembly by-elections set this Tuesday with recalled CCC legislators successfully filing their nomination papers under the name of the same political party that recalled them.
This has prompted analysts to predict a split of the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change.
“As the Nomination Court sat, the same CCC candidates that were recalled as legislators have filed their nomination papers under the same political party. This is the high level of confusion being passed to the electorate,” said political analyst, Mr Elton Ziki.
Another analyst, Mr Gibson Nyikadzino said, “ There is a precedence which has already happened before and we are heading for a split. We are going to have CCC-Chamisa and CCC-Tshabangu. This is ill-health for the electorate.”
The Nomination Court set ahead of the next month’s by-elections, necessitated by recalls at the behest of CCC interim Secretary General, Mr Sengezo Tshabangu.
Tshabangu recalled 15 legislators from parliament with some of them having been elected through a quota system.
