The fate of opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) interim leader Jameson Timba and 77 activists remains uncertain after the court postponed its ruling for the second time.
The magistrate cited that the judgment is still “0 percent complete”.
This delay comes after the State failed to submit its written arguments on time, prompting a previous postponement.
Timba and his colleagues are seeking discharge, which would result in the charges against them being dropped. According to reports, the activists argue that the State has failed to prove its case, and they should be set free.
They were arrested over two months ago for allegedly holding an unlawful gathering at Timba’s residence and for disorderly conduct, including pelting police officers with stones.
Despite denying the allegations, the group has been denied bail by both the lower and High Courts, forcing them to endure a prolonged period of detention.
The fast-tracked trial recently concluded, leaving their fate hanging in the balance until the court delivers its ruling on Wednesday.
