President Lazarus Chakwera and First Lady Monica Chakwera have led the nation in paying their final respects to the late Vice-President Saulos Chilima.
The b0dy of Vice President Chilima arrived at Parliament, where government officials paid tribute to him.
The Malawian government has declared Monday, June 17, as a public holiday to allow the public to pay their respects to the late Vice-President Saulos Chilima.
Minister of Information Moses Kunkuyu confirmed this announcement at the Parliament Building in Lilongwe.
“Foreign dignitaries are expected to attend the funeral,” the government announced.
Prayers and requiem masses were conducted in Parliament, with Fr. Augustine Katundu leading the service.
