China has announced its decision to include Australia in its visa waiver program marking a significant step in strengthening ties between the two nations.
Chinese politician and 8th premier, Li Qiang confirmed this during an official visit in Australia in a joint press meeting with Australian Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese in Canberra.
The waiver visa program is alleged to allow Australian citizens to visit China for up to 15 days without a visa.
China introduced the visa waiver program in November, 2023 which officially began with six countries including; Italy, France and The Netherlands among other. Since then it has added more states including Australia as of 2024.
The program will allegedly last up to December and China has highlighted that the expansion of the program is to promote relations and exchanges between Chinese and foreign nationals.
