The Chinese government has committed to supporting Zambia in achieving a sustainable power supply, aiming to generate 720 megawatts of electricity through collaborative projects.
Chinese Ambassador Han Jing assured the public that these initiatives will put an end to load shedding nationwide.
The agreements include the installation of rooftop solar systems by ZESCO and Power China, as well as other projects like the Kafue Gorge Lower Solar Power Plant and Kariba North Solar Power Plant.
Notably, President Hakainde Hichilema’s recent visit to China yielded significant Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) signings, including the revitalization of the TAZARA corridor.
This cooperation promises to bring reliable energy to Zambia and boost economic growth.
“China will help in ending load shedding. we will ensure sustainable power supply in this country. We will add at least 720 megawatts of electricity in Zambia,” he revealed.
“Zambia will not only be revamped but turned into a dynamic economic corridor.”
