Over 80 Kenyans have been kill3d by these floods, which have immobilised Kenya’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
These floods are being caused by the Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD).
It is a periodic fluctuation in temperature across the Indian Ocean that is similar to the El Niño phenomenon in the Pacific.
It is believed to be contributing to the increased rainfall in Kenya and other parts of East Africa.
