In a bizarre incident, a senior intelligence officer, Tinashe Muyambo, allegedly crashed a community engagement tournament organized by Chiredzi Central MP Ropafadzo Makumire, bringing the event to a grinding halt. Muyambo, in a bold move, parked his black Toyota GD6 at the center of the stadium and proceeded to enjoy a few beers with friends for nearly three hours.
The tournament, which had received prior clearance from the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) and Tongaat Hulett Zimbabwe (THZ), was meant to foster dialogue between Makumire and his constituents. However, Muyambo’s antics threw a wrench into the works, causing significant delays and discomfort among attendees. The MP claimed that Muyambo’s presence instilled fear within the community, and many residents were understandably upset.
Fortunately, the ZRP and officials from the President’s Office responded swiftly to remove the officer, restoring order to the event. Makumire thanked the authorities for their prompt action, emphasizing that such behavior is unacceptable for a public servant.
Sources close to the matter suggest that Muyambo’s actions may have been politically motivated, given his history of criticizing Makumire. The incident has sparked calls for disciplinary action against the officer, with community leaders and observers urging authorities to ensure public servants remain accountable.
This incident comes on the heels of reports about unexplained delays in the construction of Melbourne Government Primary School, a project partly funded by Makumire through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF). Allegations of political interference have been raised, and the community is demanding answers.
In the end, it’s clear that Muyambo’s actions were a major buzzkill. But will he face the music? One thing’s for sure, though – the people of Chiredzi deserve better from their public servants.
