Cleopas Charuka, a 34-year-old member of the Central Intelligence Organisation, has been brought before the Harare Magistrates Courts facing serious charges of kidnapping and armed robbery.
Appearing before Magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa, Charuka was remanded to November 11 on a US$200 bail.
The prosecution, represented by Mercy Masamvi, detailed an incident that took place on July 28, when Charuka allegedly struck the complainant with his Honda Fit vehicle on Mbuya Nehanda Street in Harare.
Rather than transporting the injured party to the police station as promised, he drove to his office at Charter House on Samora Machel Avenue.
There, Charuka and his suspected accomplice, Rimawo Rimayi, reportedly took turns @ssaulting the complainant with their hands, fists, and wooden sticks.
The situation escalated when Charuka brandished a firearm and threatened to shoot the complainant, leading to the seizure of US$60 from him.
