Climate scientist and former mayor of Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum has been elected as Mexico’s first female president marking a remarkable transformation in Mexican history.
Sheinbaum secured around 60% of the votes in a landslide victory, becoming the first Jewish president in a catholic dominated state.
Several countries and netizens have continuously extended their congratulatory messages to the newly elected president.
“On behalf of the Government and the people of the United Republic of Tanzania, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Her Excellency Claudia Sheinbaum, President-elect of Mexico, on your historic victory in the 2024 Mexican general election”,President of the United Republic of Tanzania,Samia Suluhu Hassan said.
Sheinbaum is expected to focus on social justice and environmental issues, but she faces challenges including high crime rates and recent violence against local officials by several dr_g cartels that dominate Mexico.
She will replace her mentor, outgoing President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, on 1 October.
