Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development, Felix Mhona has announced a new policy that will hold contractors accountable for their work on roads.
According to the minister, contractors who fail to deliver quality work on roads will not receive payment from the government until they reconstruct or rehabilitate the affected areas.
The new policy aims to address the issue of shoddy workmanship by contractors, which has been a persistent problem in the country’s road infrastructure.
He emphasised that the Government will no longer tolerate substandard work and will take stern action against contractors who fail to meet the required standards.
Under the new policy, contractors who are found to have carried out substandard work on roads will be required to rectify the issues and bring the road up to standard before they can receive payment.
