On Saturday, criminals forced a police officer to give up his identification documents and cash in a stolen motorcycle.
A robbery and assault occurred against 37-year-old Constable Vincent Munyuki of the Police Protection Unit Transport.
At Copacabana rank, he had gotten into a white Toyota Wish with the intention of traveling to Newlands.
Public officials have been cautioning the public not to use mushikashika.
There were six people in the automobile, including the driver.
After taking off, the driver turned into Kaguvi Street and proceeded to Margolis Plaza.
The six wanted all of Cst. Munyuki’s valuables, accusing him of being burglars.
He refused to surrender.
This resulted in the robbers assaulting him.
They searched his pockets and stole a Spark 10c cellphone and wallet containing US$30 and his national and police identity cards.
The robbers then pushed him out of their car and drove away.
He sustained a bruised mouth.
Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the case.
“Police are investigating a robbery involving mushikashika,” said Insp Chakanza.
“Commuters are urged to avoid boarding mushikashika since they are being used in committing crimes,” he said.
