In a tragic turn of events befitting of a horror movie title, a couple was found dead a few days before their wedding day.
Mmokgo Ramele (39) and her fiance, who was a deputy principal, were found dead on Tuesday morning, 20 June.
The couple was found lying in a pool of blood in Mmokgo’s shack in the Ramele area in Evaton West, Vaal.
Mmokgo’s mum, Dimakatso Tsotetsi (59) told Daily Sun she had woken up to get ready for work at about 4 am and saw the lights in her daughter’s shack on. She said she became worried as Mmokgo was usually asleep at that time.
Dimakatso said she went to the shack and found the door slightly opened. She knocked but no one responded.
She said she was shocked to find her daughter and her fiance lying face down on the ground and thought they had fainted.
“As they were facing down lying next to each other I could see blood coming out from both their heads, then I got scared,” she said.
Dimakatso said that when she looked around, the plasma TV was missing.
“Their TV was nowhere to be seen, pairs of shoes were also missing, phones were also missing and other items, including bank cards,” she said.
Dimakatso said her daughter and her boyfriend were preparing for their wedding day which was planned for 1 July 2023. She said her daughter’s boyfriend was from the Free State but was staying not far from her house. She said she wanted to know who killed them and why.
Gauteng police spokeswoman Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi said the circumstances surrounding the incident were unknown at this stage and police were investigating a double murder case as well as a house robbery case.
“No suspects have been arrested at this stage and police request anyone who may have information about this incident to please contact their nearest police station,” she said.
