Two young men from Plumtree, Thomas Ndlovu, aged 20, and Oncemore Mungombe, 19, face sentencing on November 22nd after being accused of r0bbing a pedestrian of his cellphone.
Magistrate Joshua Nembaware ordered the pair to remain in custody following their appearance in court, where they were charged with stealing a mobile phone valued at $200 from Prosper Ngwenya on the night of October 31st.
The alleged r0bbery incident unfolded around 1 am while Ngwenya was making his way home from a local bar.
According to the state prosecutor, Selestine Madziwa, the two accused confronted Ngwenya as he walked alone, demanding that he hand over his phone.
In a moment of fear and anxiety, Ngwenya complied with their demands, hoping to avoid confrontation.
However, as he attempted to escape from the situation, he was allegedly struck on the hand with a half brick, adding to the assa_lt charges faced by the defendants.
