A 21-Year-Old Copperbelt University (CBU) student from Zambia has di3d after being st@bbed by criminals who also st0le his mobile phone as he was walking to a boarding house in Kitwe’s Chipata from campus.
Copperbelt Province police commanding officer Peacewell Mweemba said Kafula Musonda, a second-year student in the school of mathematics and natural sciences, was att@cked around 22:30 hours on Saturday. His uncle Mulenga Musonda, of Kitwe’s Wusakile, reported the matter to Kitwe East Police Station.
After being st@bbed with an unknown instrument, Kafula managed to reach the community police post in Chipata, about 600 metres from the university’s exit gate where crime prevention officer Bruce Chembe informed Kitwe East Police Station officers, who rushed him to Kitwe Teaching Hospital where he was admitted.
“Unfortunately, the victim di3d on Monday around 09:00 hours. A docket of m_rder has been opened and police have instituted investigations into the matter,” Mr Mweemba said.
Last month, a female student at CBU was att@cked by criminals in Riverside and it took an alert motorist, who rushed to call for reinforcement from Riverside Police Post, to rescue her.
CBU vice-chancellor Imasiku Nyambe has regretted the student’s de@th and is hopeful that the culprits will be arrested. “We need to finish [constructing] our hostels so that all our students can be accommodated within campus,” he said.
