Police in Mashonaland West province have made an appeal to the public for help in identifying the decomposing body of a man who was discovered hanging from a tree in Hurungwe Game Park.
The distressing find was made by two herdsmen on Wednesday.
The body, that of an adult male, was spotted by 19-year-old informant Anyway Muropa in the Nyamakate area of Hurungwe within the International Anti-Poaching Foundation concession, where his cattle had strayed. Muropa promptly alerted local headman Kufainyore Mateke, who then reported the incident to the police.
Assistant Inspector Aggary Jaure, the deputy spokesperson for the Mashonaland West provincial police, confirmed the discovery. In a telephone interview, she urged individuals facing difficulties to seek counselling and support.
The deceased was clad in a striped golf T-shirt and blue Chino trousers.
An empty black satchel was found near his body, but there were no indicators that could lead to the deceased relatives.
Unfortunately, there were no immediate identifiable factors that could aid in establishing the man’s identity or locating his relatives.
Chief Abel Mbasera Chundu called upon the local community to assist in identifying the deceased individual.
