Dereck Goto, the Founder and Chief Executive of Web Entangled, stated that Zimbabweans should support Wicknell Chivayo for his efforts in securing the approval of Starlink in Zimbabwe.
He emphasised that Chivayo’s partnership with Starlink did not require any tender.
Goto further asserted that Chivayo is a smart businessman who leverages the relationships he consciously creates to offer solutions.
Through an X post seen by Newsreportzim.com Dereck Goto stated that :
We are our own worst enemies.
Instead of Zimbabweans supporting and acknowledging Wicknell Chivayo for submitting a convincing and impeccable proposal to POTRAZ that has a game-changing impact on Zimbabwe’s entire Internet connectivity reach, pricing, and other attendant benefits, we hear foolish and uninformed remarks like “we need new leaders,” “corruption,” and all that rubbish.
It took just one intelligent person to sit down and explain to the Head of State and government the advantages of Starlink, address the genuine security concerns surrounding it, and subsequently gain approval.
So what if he’s a ZANUPF supporter? Do you expect the perennially negative and hostile CCC or MDC supporters to convince the President?
You talk of a tender; what tender? For what? Some projects need a tender process, and some don’t. Wicknell’s partnership with Starlink definitely did not require one. When Strive Masiyiwa’s Liquid partnered with Eutelsat, did they go through a government tender? Why was there no noise then?
