A jealous ex-husband’s anger boiled over into violence in Plumtree, resulting in a conviction and sentencing. Martin Maphosa was found guilty of physically assaulting his ex-wife, Ntombizodwa Moyo, after accusing her of having multiple partners.
The argument escalated, with Maphosa brandishing a knife and threatening Moyo’s life. She was forced to flee for safety, while Maphosa continued his destructive behavior by breaking her bedroom window and stealing some of her clothes.
Maphosa was sentenced to 18 months in jail, with 12 months suspended on condition of good behavior. The remaining six months were converted to community service. The case highlights the serious consequences of gender-based violence and the importance of seeking help in abusive relationships.
