A tr@gic incident occurred in Kuwadzana 7 on December 26, when a 22-year-old man, Nihipalaakar Muyaya, allegedly str@ngled his 70-year-old grandmother, Agness Duri, to d3ath while heavily intoxicated.
Muyaya has since appeared in court facing murd3r charges.
The event unfolded between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. at house number 5291, where Muyaya had returned from a nightclub.
Reports from prosecutor Ms. Dzidzai Josiah indicate that he entered his grandmother’s bedroom, where she was peacefully sleeping, and began to @ss@ult her.
Allegedly, he punched her in the face before using his bare hands to str@ngle her, causing severe injuries.

As a result of the brutal assault, Duri suffered profuse bleeding from her nose, ears, and mouth, along with deep wounds to her mouth.
In a h0rrifying turn, she was reportedly unable to cry out for help as Muyaya held her neck tightly.
After the attack, he fell asleep on a nearby sofa, leaving his grandmother in distress.
The situation was discovered by Muyaya’s elder brother, Limbani, who returned home from the same nightclub.
Upon entering the house, he found their grandmother lying in bed, bl33ding heavily, with her pillow and bedsheets stained with blood. Limbani attempted to wake her, but she was unresponsive.
When Muyaya appeared in court, Harare Magistrate Ms. Ruth Moyo advised him to apply for bail at the High Court.
