Former Arsenal midfielder, Edu Gaspar who is currently employed with Arsenal as sporting director is set to leave the club.
Edu Gaspar has been responsible for Arsenal’s fine work in the transfer market in recent years. His work alongside Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has led him to be widely thought of as one of the leading sporting directors in football.
Gaspar was appointed as club’s sporting director in 2019 following his understanding of the club, having been part of the Invincibles team under Wenger. During his time at the club, Edu helped Arsenal to recruit and sign key players like Martin Odegaard, Declan Rice and Kai Harvets.
Brazilian director has been crucial part of the project, pivotal to rebuild the squad with Mikel Arteta. In 2019, then director of football Raul Sanllehi said: “We’re very excited that Edu is joining the team. He has great experience and technical football knowledge and most importantly is a true Arsenal man.
