Popular Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa has cancelled a church service and all church gatherings scheduled for today.
Interestingly, Makandiwa cancelled the service just as the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) announced the results of the 2023 Presidential Election where Emmerson Mnangagwa had been re-elected with 52.6 percent of the vote, beating challenger Nelson Chamisa into second place with 44 percent.
Makandiwa’s United Family International Church (UFIC) was scheduled to hold a service at its main church in Chitungwiza on Sunday. While he does not give reasons for cancelling the service and all church gatherings, the timing of the announcement has piqued interest.
According to an official notice from Makandiwa’s church, the UFIC Basilica service and all UFIC gatherings for August 27, 2023, have been cancelled. They urge people to share this information.
“Important notice. Please be advised that the UFIC Basilica service and all UFIC gatherings for tomorrow 27th of August 2023 have been cancelled. Please share,” the notice reads.
Efforts to get an official comment regarding the cancelling of the church service and all other UFIC gatherings were unsuccessful at the time of writing.
In related news, Emmanuel Makandiwa had predicted the winner of the 2023 Presidential Election.
The founder and leader of the United Family International Church (UFIC) predicted that Zanu PF would retain power.
During one of his services, he even disclosed the margin by which Emmerson Mnangagwa would secure victory.
Makandiwa informed his Pastors of this margin and even stated that if he proved to be incorrect, they were free to leave his church and seek another spiritual leader to follow. At the time, he remarked:
About the figure about the election results I openly told my Pastors and told then to write down the number. You do not do that to your Pastors, you will lose honour, you lose respect, they have the number. If I am wrong I told them to find another man of God, find another father.
