MASVINGO- Former award-winning model and Mercedes G Modelling Agency director Gayly Mhonderwa d_ed on Saturday. She was 42. Gayly was buried at Zororo Memorial Park in Harare yesterday.
Her younger sister Blessed confirmed her de@th and burial to The Mirror. She said Gayly succumbed to heart failure at Parirenyatwa Hospital on Saturday.
“My sister breathed her last on Saturday around 9.30 am at Parirenyatwa Hospital. She was admitted to the hospital last Friday. We lost a loving sister. She was a kind woman,” she said.
Blessed also said that Gayly was diagnosed with a heart problem in February 2021 following her mother’s de@th in January.
Gayle was born on September 20, 1981, into a large family with eight children. Her parents Boniface and Martha are late.
She attended Glenview 1 Primary School from 1988-1994 and enrolled at Mandedza High School in 1995. She transferred to Dekeza High School in 1998 and was elected a junior parliamentarian.
National Arts Council of Zimbabwe (NACZ) Masvingo Provincial Arts Manager Helen Mudefi described Gayly as a hard-working person dedicated to empowering the needy.
“She was tireless. Gayly donated sanitary wear to the needy and was part of many fundraising schemes. She also promoted models. She will be deeply missed,” she said.
Gayly had a glowing modelling career and nurtured models in the province. She was one of the organisers of the Miss Independence, Miss Heroes and Miss Masvingo modelling pageants.
She was single and had no children.
