Nkululeko Khumalo, a 45-year-old security guard from Ingwizi in Mphoengs, Matabeleland South Province, has appeared before the Plumtree Magistrate Court to face charges of physical @buse against his 44-year-old ex-wife, Constance Moyo.
Khumalo pleaded guilty to the charges brought against him and received a sentence of R350 fine or two months in prison.
Additionally, he received a one-month imprisonment term which was suspended for a period of five years on the condition that he does not commit any physical @buse offense resulting in a conviction and imprisonment without the option of a fine during this period.
The court heard that on 18 April 2024, at approximately 7 pm, Khumalo physically ass@ulted his ex-wife, Constance Moyo, who works as a shopkeeper, at Ingwizi Business Centre in the Mphoengs area.
It is reported that he confronted her, asking why she divorced him. A misunderstanding erupted between the two.
In the heat of the argument, Khumalo, enraged, @ssaulted Moyo all over her body with his open hands before head-butting her nose.
Moyo, who was !njured as a result of the @ttack, reported the matter to the police leading to Khumalo’s @rrest and subsequent appearance in court.
