A man who was allegedly pretending to be a police officer has been caught after presenting himself before real policemen.
Felix Tagonera, 34, of Hatcliffe Extension appeared before the Harare Magistrates’ Courts charged with impersonation.
He was granted US$100 bail and will appear in court on May 13.
The State alleges that on April 16 at corner Nelson Mandela Avenue in Harare, the complainant, Christopher Takura, a ZRP officer stationed at Kopje Operations was on patrol, together with another officer, when they met Tagonera.
It is alleged that Tagonera stopped Takura and identified himself as a police officer based at Harare Central Police Station attached to the Police Intelligence section.
The court heard that Takura had doubts over Tagonera’s conduct and probed him more.
That is when he realised that Tagonera was not a police officer.
