Police in Chipinge have arrested a 46-year-old man for ass@ulting his three-year-old son with the handle of a machete and a wooden stick.
According to reports, on May 12, 2024, the accused found his son had soiled his pants and proceeded to hit the minor with the handle of a machete and a wooden stick on the face, head, and other parts of the body.
The ass@ult only stopped when a neighbor intervened and took the child, who had sustained multiple !njuries, away.
Following his arrest, the 46-year-old man stood before a Chipinge magistrate facing @ssault charges.
He was convicted on his own guilty plea and sentenced to 12 months in prison for ass@ulting his son.
However, four months of his sentence were suspended, and he will serve an effective eight months.
