A former police officer, Noel Muzenda, was @rrested last week after neighbors filmed him hitting his 10-year-old son.
The incident happened when the boy returned late after going to buy spaghetti.
Muzenda, 39, pleaded gu!lty and was sentenced to 18 months in prison.
However, half of his sentence was suspended for five years if he behaves well.

He must also complete 240 hours of community service at Mabvuku police station.
As a result of the incident, Muzenda lost custody of his four children.
The government quickly intervened to provide a safe place for the 10-year-old and his siblings while ensuring they receive necessary support for their emotional and physical well-being.
At the time of the incident, the boy’s mother, Sarah Mafara, was at a church conference.
Muzenda had previously worked for the police but was discharged in 2016 after a conviction related to a road accident.
