Health authorities have observed a significant rise in the number of people contracting the flu as Zimbabwe enters the winter season.
With over 3,500 influenza cases recorded in the past week alone, experts are urging the public to take necessary precautions and consider vaccination as the most effective form of protection against the virus.
This was confirmed by the Minister of Health , Dr Douglas Mombeshora in A recent twitter post .
While influenza viruses spread year-round, most flu activity peaks between December and February. In temperate areas, influenza activities typically reach their height during winter, while in tropical and subtropical zones, peaks might differ significantly.
These concerning trends highlight the ongoing challenges faced by Zimbabwe’s healthcare system in addressing seasonal and endemic diseases.
It is crucial for authorities to implement effective strategies to combat these health thr3ats, including public awareness campaigns, vaccination efforts, and improved access to medical services.
