The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed a fatal road traffic accident that occurred on July 15 2024, at around 1600 hours at the 3-kilometer peg along Hamutyinei Road, Gweru.
Tragedy struck when a Toyota Hiace kombi carrying 21 passengers veered off the road and overturned three times before landing on its right side. The accident resulted in the loss of four lives, with 18 others !njured in the devastating cra$h.
The bodies of the victims were taken to Gweru Provincial Hospital for post-mortem examination. Meanwhile, 17 of the injur3d passengers are receiving treatment at the same hospital, while one victim was referred to Bulawayo United Hospitals for further medical attention.
More details about the accident will be released by the ZRP as investigations continue.
The cause of the accident is not yet known, but authorities are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
