Lungile “Cyclone Ree” Mathe, the 35-year-old former Miss Tourism Zimbabwe’s Miss Personality 2011, has made a stunning career change that has left many questioning her life choices. After being dethroned by the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority for her alleged involvement in “scandalous personal affairs”, Mathe has seemingly abandoned her modeling career to become a sangoma.
In a recent interview with Sunday Mail, Cyclone Ree claimed to have cleaned up her act and turned a new leaf in her life. However, her decision to become a sangoma has raised eyebrows, with many wondering what drove her to make such a drastic change. “The journey to become a sangoma is not easy,” she said, revealing that she had turned back several times during the process.
According to Cyclone Ree, a dream she had about a boulder and a body of water led her to Njelele, where she began her journey as a sangoma. Her father and uncle, who are also involved in the traditional healing practice, initiated her into the craft. The initiation process, which lasted seven months, was completed in 2021.
Despite her newfound calling, Cyclone Ree hasn’t given up on her modeling career. She revealed that she still jogs almost four kilometers every day to keep her body in shape, with plans to return to the ramp. This raises questions about her true motivations and whether she’s truly committed to her new path.
Cyclone Ree’s story is one of contradictions. From her past as a beauty queen to her present life as a sangoma, her journey is marked by controversy and uncertainty. As she navigates this new chapter, one can’t help but wonder what’s next for this enigmatic figure. Will she find success and fulfillment as a sangoma, or will she return to the spotlight as a model? Only time will tell.
