In a bizarre and horrifying event that has left the community reeling, a 19-year-old gardener named Panankosi Phiri allegedly committed a gruesome act of self-mut!lation in Msasa Park, Kwekwe, on September 14, 2024.
Eyewitnesses report that chaos erupted at his employer’s home on Bauhnia Street around 8:00 pm, where Phiri violently harmed himself using a knife—first slashing his wrists and causing a profuse amount of bleeding.
What transpired next was shocking: Phiri went on to sever his own manhood, an act so appalling that witnesses struggled to comprehend the scene.
In an unfathomable twist, he reportedly wrapped his severed appendage in bread and consumed it.
Disturbingly, after this act, he began calling out the name of his employer’s 10-year-old granddaughter, referring to her as his wife.

The employer, horrified by the events, immediately alerted the police, who rushed Phiri to Kwekwe General Hospital for urgent medical care.
During his hospitalization, Phiri’s fixation on the young girl raised alarms among the staff, leading to an investigation.
On September 18, 2024, law enforcement authorities interviewed the girl, uncovering unsettling evidence that suggested she had been a victim of sexual abuse at the hands of Phiri.
He is currently receiving treatment at Gweru General Hospital, where his condition has been described as serious.
Midlands Police Spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko could not be reached for comment at the time of publication, leaving the community to grapple with the shocking details of this harrowing case.
