The Georgian Parliament has enacted legislation prohibiting LGBTQ rights, including as LGBTQ propaganda, gender reassignment surgery, depictions of same-s3x partnerships in cinema, television, and advertising, and same-s3x marriage registrations.
Furthermore, it prohibits non-heteros3xual couples from adopting children.
The ruling Georgian Dream party introduced legislation that prohibits the promotion of same-s3x couples and gender reassignment surgery.
These laws have the potential to criminalise LGBTQ+ pride gatherings and public displays of the LGBTQ+ rainbow flag.
This development comes after the recent passage of an anti-nongovernmental organisation “foreign influence” law, which sparked widespread demonstrations and received criticism from Western countries.
The deal was approved with 78 votes from Georgian Dream parliamentarians, while opposition parties boycotted the session.
