In a recent court ruling, a defendant named Ncube was sentenced to six months in prison, with the latter half of the sentence suspended on the condition that he returns $900 to his girlfriend, Nyasha Nyamasakura, by October 30.
Ncube’s remaining six-month sentence was converted to 410 hours of community service following his conviction for theft.
The incident occurred on April 12 in Makokoba, where Ncube stole the money from Nyamasakura, with whom he had been living for about two years.
On the day of the theft, Nyamasakura left Ncube at home while she went to work, only to return later and find her belongings disturbed.
Concerned when she couldn’t reach Ncube by phone, she checked under her mattress, only to discover that the money was gone along with Ncube’s clothes, which heightened her suspicions.
Prompted by these findings, she reported the theft to the police, leading to an investigation.
Ncube was apprehended only after he returned from a trip to South Africa, where he had likely fled to avoid the consequences of his actions.
