A shocking case of sexual assault has come to light in Glen View, where a 46-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping his 18-year-old daughter-in-law over a period of five days.
The accused, a father of four, exploited his position of trust within the household, committing the atrocities while his wife remained unaware. The victim, who shared a sleeping area with her husband in the dining room, was subjected to handcuffing and gagging before being assaulted.
The perpetrator threatened to harm the victim’s five-month-old child if she reported the abuse, leaving her feeling trapped and helpless. It wasn’t until she found an opportunity to escape that she confided in her mother, leading to the family reporting the incident to the authorities.
Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the arrest, stating that the accused would face multiple charges of rape and assault. The victim has undergone a medical examination at the Family Support Clinic, and investigations are ongoing to determine the source of the handcuffs used in the assaults.
