GLEN VIEW South legislator, Grandmore Hakata and 40 other Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) members were remanded to November 7 as their disorderly conduct case drags on.
The group, represented by Kudzai Kadzere from the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, appeared before Harare magistrate Dennis Mangosi yesterday.
State prosecutor Tafara Chirambira said the CCC members failed to obey officers of law and three witnesses have been lined up to testify against the 40.
In the previous court appearance, Kadzere told the court that the witnesses were not credible because they gave conflicting statements. He further submitted that the police failed to record statements from the complainants.
Hakata and the CCC members were arrested in August while holding an election campaign road show at Machipisa Shopping Centre in Highfield, Harare.
According to court papers, the CCC had notified authorities about a campaign rally at Churu Farm, but later diverted from the planned location leading to the arrest.
