In a shocking and unsettling tale from Chief Chinhamora’s area in Goromonzi, Mashonaland East Province, a 10-year-old girl has left her community reeling with her harrowing story of alleged w!tchcraft initiation.
The young student, previously a bright and promising Grade 7 pupil, has reportedly been thrust into a nightmarish world of dark r!tuals and supernatural experiences, leading to her absence from school and her family’s desperate search for answers.
According to her distraught mother, the girl has been exhibiting bizarre and frightening behaviors since the alleged initiation.
“She acts like she’s possessed by a snake spirit,” the mother reveals. “She hisses, writhes, and sticks out her tongue like a snake. When she’s possessed, she cries out like a hyena.”
The girl herself recounts a terrifying event at school involving a mysterious adult woman and other children.
“An adult woman came up to me and touched my head, and then other kids did the same. After that, I started seeing strange things, like snakes being thrown at me and being taken away at night for witchcr@ft practices,” she says.
She describes being taken to secret, nighttime gatherings by a “large snake” that can carry 20 people. At these gatherings, she claims, they consume food like “sadza, rice, and meat” and drink mysterious “red beverages.” She even says they travel to distant places, including Mozambique, all while under the influence of the spirit.

“We travel in groups of over 50 people on this large snake to practice witchcraft. We return home around 4 a.m. without anyone noticing,” she explains.
The girl’s mother is anguished, noting that her daughter, once a top student, has struggled academically and emotionally since the possession began. The girl has also claimed to have initiated other children into witchcr@ft, including her aunt’s 14-year-old daughter and some relatives. According to the spirit, one child involved is often sick and weak.
Compounding their distress, the girl’s father has lost his job, which the spirit allegedly claims responsibility for.
In their search for help, the family has turned to Sekuru Kadzuramera, a traditional healer, who confirms the girl’s possession by spirits, including a snake spirit. He asserts that urgent intervention is necessary to help the girl and others affected by the alleged witchcr@ft.
The family is now reaching out for public assistance, hoping to break free from what they believe are the sinister forces tormenting their lives.
