Grade Seven candidates in Zimbabwe have commenced their 2024 national examinations today.
The Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (Zimsec) ensured everything is ready for a smooth process.
Zimsec spokesperson Mrs. Nicky Dlamini-Moyo confirmed, “All is well; we are prepared for the Grade Seven examinations starting with English Paper 1.”
This year, 309,624 candidates will sit for Ordinary Level exams, an increase from 287,677 in 2023.
Meanwhile, Advanced Level candidates have slightly decreased to 34,283 from last year’s 35,203. Overall, public exam candidates have increased by about 35,000.
Ordinary Level practicals began on September 16, with theory exams starting October 14 with Mathematics Paper 1.

Advanced Level practicals also started on September 16, and theory exams will kick off on October 14 with History Paper 1.
To combat exam malpractices, Zimsec is enforcing strict regulations that impose prison sentences for those convicted of leaking exam papers, and offenders among students will have their results nullified.
Security measures include delivering question papers under heavy escort and deploying security teams nationwide to monitor the exams.
