In a bizarre incident, a 40-year old Gweru man allegedly hanged himself in his former wife’s bedroom to escape arrest for attempted m_rder of a woman.
Midlands provincial police spokesperson, Emanuel Mahoko confirmed the incident.
He said Anderson Mureverwi hanged himself after a fight with his ex-wife at Gambiza Secondary School under Chief Chiwundura on February 25.
It is alleged that on February 24, Mureverwi went to Gambiza Secondary School where his ex-wife Faith Solomon stays with their two-year-old daughter, to check on the daughter who was not feeling well.
He put up for the night, and the next morning the woman asked Mureverwi when he was going to leave, which did not go down well with him.
He allegedly picked up a kitchen knife and st@gbbed Solomon four times on the back, and once on the left arm, but she managed to wrestle away, and escaped, leaving Mureverwi in the room.
Police were alerted, but found Mureverwi hanging from a roof truss in Solomon’s house.
Mahoko urged members of the public to engage third parties when they had misunderstandings, and to always strive to resolve disputes peacefully.
