The City of Harare is taking decisive action to recover more than ZiG940 million in outstanding debts owed by residents, businesses, parastatals, and government departments.
This sum is crucial for funding city operations and maintaining service delivery standards. As a first step, the city has started issuing final demand notices to debtors, urging them to settle their dues immediately to avoid legal action and the potential loss of property.
To ensure transparency and encourage prompt payment, the City of Harare will publicly post the names of debtors on its social media platforms and at district offices across the city. The banking halls are open from 8 am to 5 pm on weekdays, providing ample opportunity for debtors to make payments and clear their outstanding balances.
The local authority is committed to resolving the debt issue to ensure the smooth functioning of city services and maintain a high quality of life for its residents.
By holding debtors accountable and encouraging responsible financial behavior, the City of Harare aims to create a stable financial environment that supports the needs of its citizens and fosters continued growth and development.
