In a disturbing incident, a group of nineteen rogue police recruits has been apprehended following a violent rampage in the heart of Harare’s Central Business District (CBD) on Friday evening.
These recruits engaged in senseless acts of aggression, indiscriminately assaulting innocent civilians without any apparent justification.
In a statement released by the police national spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the ZRP confirmed that investigations are currently underway regarding the unruly conduct exhibited by the police recruits.
Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi emphasized that the Commissioner-General of Police does not condone violent behavior by any police officer.
He assured the public of the professionalism of the police force and their commitment to interacting with the people of Zimbabwe and visitors respectfully and lawfully.
In a statement, the ZRP said,
The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms that investigations are currently underway in connection with the unruly conduct exhibited by some Police recruits in Harare Central Business District on 18th August 2023 between 1830 hours and 1930 hours.
Nineteen (19) Police recruits have been arrested and will face the due process of the law.
The Commissioner-General of Police does not condone violent behaviour by any police officer and assures the public of the professionalism of police officers as they interact with the people of Zimbabwe and visitors.
