Zimbabwean entrepreneur and self-taught fashion designer, Tinotenda “Hatiperi Wacho” Matayi has taken to social media to address the issue of perceived sabotage against local artists.
In a recent post, Hatiperi urged fellow Zimbabweans to reflect on the tendency to pit artists against each other, particularly citing the constant comparisons between popular musicians Jah Prayzah and Winky D.
Expressing his concerns, Hatiperi emphasised the need for a more supportive and united approach towards artists in the country.
The entrepreneur’s statement comes in the wake of notable developments in the Zimbabwean music scene, including Winky D’s release of four tracks in quick succession, which sparked widespread excitement and discussion on social media platforms.
Meanwhile, Jah Prayzah continues to garner admiration from fans, with many acknowledging his versatility and artistic prowess.
Hatiperi’s call for unity and constructive engagement underscores the importance of fostering a nurturing environment for artists to thrive. By promoting collaboration and mutual respect, he hopes to contribute to a cultural shift that celebrates the richness and diversity of Zimbabwean talent, ultimately benefiting the entire arts community.
