Details have emerged regarding Bright Nyanhete (26), a Zimbabwean man residing in Australia, who is accused of spiking the drink of his 36-year-old girlfriend and subsequently @ss@ulting her.
This incident took place during his first visit to meet her in person.
Nyanhete appeared before regional magistrate Marewanazvo Gofa and was granted bail without conditions due to his local ties, which alleviated any bail concerns as reported by H Metro.
The court heard that the couple connected through the complainant’s sister, who also lives in Australia. Nyanhete had expressed his desire to marry a Zimbabwean woman, leading to the development of a romantic relationship between them.

On November 13, during his visit to the complainant’s home, the two reportedly engaged in conversation over whisky brought by Nyanhete. Their interaction progressed to kissing and caressing.
However, the complainant made it clear to Nyanhete that she was not ready to engage in s3xual activity, citing her uncertainty about his HIV status.
After she went to the bathroom, upon her return, Nyanhete allegedly offered her a drink that she suspects was drug_ged, causing adverse effects.
It is claimed that Nyanhete then proceeded to @ss@ult her while holding her by the neck, and later, after going to bed, @ss@ulted her again.
The complainant reported experiencing severe headaches and palpitations, which left her unable to resist.
Nyanhete’s defense contends that the accusations are fabricated, suggesting that the complainant became upset upon learning of his impending marriage to another woman later this month.
