Ivor Butau, a 37-year-old resident of Darwendale, has recently faced serious legal repercussions after being arraigned in court on charges of stock theft.
The allegations against Butau are both alarming and detailed, painting a troubling picture of betrayal and criminal activity within a trusted employer-employee relationship.
According to the case presented by the prosecution, the events unfolded in September 2024.
During this time, Butau reportedly seized the opportunity created by his employer’s absence to commit an act of theft.
He allegedly removed two bulls from the herd that belonged to his employer, an act that not only violated the trust placed in him but also constituted a financial loss for the owner.
Following the theft, Butau’s actions escalated as he proceeded to slaughter the bulls.
In a further attempt to profit from his crime, he ventured into the illegal sale of the meat.
It was during this phase that law enforcement intervention came into play.
Thanks to vigilant members of the community who observed suspicious activities and provided critical information to the police, Butau’s illegal operations were exposed and ultimately led to his arrest.
