In an unusual stunt, rapper Holy Ten has thrown his support for Winky D after Kenako Music made a YouTube copyright strike against Disappear.
Yesterday, record label Kenako Music made a copyright claim on YouTube against Winky D’s 2015 smash hit Disappear and Mirror. Prominent producer Oskid produced the song while still under the Kenako Music stable.
The songs have since been struck off Winky D’s YouTube page. According to online reports, Kenako did not receive royalties from the artist’s camp on the two songs. Winky D’s team has not yet addressed the debacle with Kenako Music.
There has been a flurry of YouTube strikes over the past week. It all started when Pastor Charles Charamba and the Fishers of Men made a copyright claim against Jah Signal’s Sweetie and Tengai Mafuta. He also made a similar claim against Tauya Kuzomutenda by Brian Samaita.
Rapper Holy Ten has added his voice to the copyright battles and defended Winky D. Posting on his X account, he said:
“3 copyright strikes & a channel is deleted forever. Ibotso 👀 Jokes, you live by the sword, you die by the sword. No matter what happens, we never destroy the art! Practice “alternative dispute resolution”. Michael Magz “Mukuruwe” and Saintfloew “Silas Mavende” are still on my YT!”
Social media users expressed mixed emotions as Holy Ten weighed into Winky D’s copyright fight with Kenako Music.
