A wedding ceremony took an unexpected turn when a mischievous owl, serving as the ring bearer, flew off with the wedding rings, leaving the bride and groom in shock.
The incident occurred on July 20 at Kirkstall Abbey in West Yorkshire, England. A bystander, Callum Russel, witnessed the owl’s great escape, which happened around 1 pm.
The bird flew to the top of the venue, holding the precious rings hostage.
The couple’s distress was palpable, but Russel found the situation hilarious.

The owl’s handler attempted to coax the bird back with a piece of chicken, showcasing their professionalism amidst the chaos.
“It seemed like they had been ready to do the rings but the owl went away,” he said.
The outlet reports that Russel saw the animal’s professional handler attempt to bribe the owl with a piece of chicken.
“It was a mix between devastation for them [the couple] but I was in hysterics and the handler was so professional about the whole thing,” Russel said. “I left at 5 p.m. and I spoke to the handler who deals with the birds. The owl did come back with the rings in the end.”
After a seven-hour wait, the owl finally returned the rings around 8 pm.
This unconventional ring bearer experience added a memorable twist to the traditional wedding ceremony, leaving a lasting impression on the couple and their guests.
