A woman from Zvimba endured a horrifying ordeal that unfolded in the dead of night when her husband att@cked her with a hammer, enraged by her refusal to k!ll their child for a ritual.
Musa Hove, 41, appeared before Mbare magistrate Ms. Winnet Joni on Wednesday, facing charges of the brutal ass@ult of his wife, Evangelistah Chadzingawafa, 42.
The chilling incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning, around 2 a.m., while the couple lay in their bedroom.
According to the State, the night had seemed normal until Hove suddenly woke up and began hurling accusations at his wife, claiming she did not respect him.
However, this accusation was a mere veil for a far more sinister and deeply rooted demand. Since 2020, Hove had been pressuring Evangelistah to k!ll their third-born child, convinced that such a sacrifice would bring wealth and enhance their business through dark rituals. Despite his relentless pressure, Evangelistah had steadfastly refused to comply with his gruesome request.
On this fateful night, the tension between them erupted into a vi0lent confrontation.

After a heated argument, Hove ordered Evangelistah to leave their bedroom and sleep in the spare room with the children. Reluctantly, and hoping to avoid further escalation, she obeyed. But Hove’s rage was far from spent. As soon as Evangelistah left the room, he grabbed a hammer and followed her.
In a shocking and brutal act, Hove struck his wife twice on the head with the hammer, the blows echoing through the quiet house. Despite the severe pain and bleeding, Evangelistah’s instinct for survival kicked in.
She fought back, managing to wrest the hammer from her husband’s grip. However, Hove, consumed by fury, bit her right hand in a final desperate attempt to assert his dominance.
Bleeding and in agony, Evangelistah knew she had to protect her children and seek justice.
Gathering her remaining strength, she fled to the police station and reported the horrific ass@ult. Authorities acted swiftly, and Hove was promptly arrested.
The case, prosecuted by Mrs. Idris Mupandasekwa, has attracted significant public attention with some shocked by the extreme and terrifying measures some individuals are willing to take in their misguided pursuit of wealth.
